Know How To Build An Ark?

I-40 just outside of Jackson

There are no words to describe the feeling of what occurred this past weekend.  If you live in the area or have watched the news, then you’re fully aware of the flooding that we’ve experienced in Tennessee and surrounding areas.  Several areas received as much as 13 inches of rain in just one day!  We had only one concert scheduled in Smyrna, GA for Sunday morning, so we had planned to leave home on Saturday afternoon.  After leaving the house, we realized exactly how bad things were!  Water was running across Interstate 40 only a few miles from our house that had traffic backed up for nearly 20 miles!   We took another route, only to find out that road was also closed due to flooding.  At this point we really began to question whether we would even be able to make it out of Jackson!   In the meantime, a fireman stopped by our home and advised everyone to evacuate their homes immediately due to a levee breaking at a nearby lake.  He said that it could possibly flood our home if the other one broke!  I called Pastor Steve Davis and shared the situation with him, and he agreed that we needed to put our safety first.  After a lot of discussion, we attempted to head south through Mississippi and take the long way to Atlanta.  We encountered several areas that were under water, but successfully arrived at the church at 1:00 am on Sunday morning!  After having a wonderful service at Sharon Baptist that morning, we knew that we would have to travel right back through the storms to get home.  We’re thankful for all of the prayers and concern for our safety and with the Lord’s protection… we safely made it home late Sunday night!  You can see several more photos right hereHow did the rain and flooding affect your weekend?  Do you have any family or friends that were affected by this weather?

  1. I am thankful that all of you are safe. How did your homes do in the flooding?

  2. We were heading west on I-40, and ran straight into the downpour of rain. I told my brother we needed to get off the road and find a motel to hold up in until the rain stopped Well, the rain did not let up until Sunday evening. It was raining so hard we could hardly see the exit. If we had gone on another 5 minutes we would have been stuck on the interstate with the others and waiting to be rescued, if we did not drown. I truly believe if people had not been praying for our safety, we would have been in a terrible situation. We are truly blessed. Praise the Lord.

  3. I praise God that you all made to and from GA safely. Thank you all for keeping your scheduled concert. It could have been very easy for you all to say we are not going to risk traveling this weekend and cancelled. I appreciate you all and everything you all do to further the kingdom of God. You all are such a blessing to me and you all mean alot to me. I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!!
    Your BIGGEST Fan,

  5. Our homes were spared however; a friend of our Father’s drowned right below our house in the bottoms when his car suddenly was swept off the road and the current was so strong he was unable to swim to safety. Please keep the Bates/Griffin family in your prayers. Glad to hear you all made it to your concert and returned home safely. God is good all the time. All the time God is good.
    Respectfully,

  7. The man that drowned between Mckenzie and Trezevant was my Daddy. I am asking for all of you to please pray for my family. My Daddy was a Christian and I know without a doubt that he is in Heaven with my Mother, but I am going to miss him so much. He was such a good Daddy to me and my sister. He was a very hard worker and a very good provider. He also took very good care of my Mother, they were married for 53 years and for 30 of those years she had rheumotoid arthritis. Please keep my family in your prayers.

  8. I am receiving my email but you still had my old email where the word Mail is. The flood was very bad. I just heard about it. Princess
